Health Insurance Guide > HSA Account; How does all this save me money on my taxes?HSA Account; How does all this save me money on my taxes? At the completion of each year, you will receive an itemized statement that details the amount contributed to your HSA in those last 12 months. This amount can be deducted only if it is less or the same as the maximum allowable contribution for your HSA. Like an IRA, HSA deductions can be taken advantage of regardless of whether or not you itemize. Self-employed individuals can deduct 100 percent of their health insurance premiums if:1. You are not able to enroll in a subsidized health plan offered by an employer or the employer of your spouse. 2. The deduction does not go over the amount of net income from your venture. Remember to check with a financial expert as to the tax benefits, both state and federal, that apply to your status.
