Health Bill is Down but Not Out

Just when it seemed President Obama’s health bill was tossed to the side, some leading Democrats have picked it back up. Leading Democrats are working on changing the bill to encompass the views of both parties. This may come as a surprise to many after many congressional Democrats put the bill on hold saying there was no rush to pass it.

Several Democratic lawmakers on the right and the left suggested it may be best to scrap their big overhaul bill and pass a smaller measure with provisions they can all agree on, such as barring rejection by insurers for those Americans who have pre-existing conditions and closing the doughnut hole to bring down medical insurance and prescription drug costs.

President Obama and Democrat allies have been working to pass the bill to bring more affordable health insurance for the past several months. Things were especially grim for the bill following Republican Scott Brown’s victory. The President had lectured Congressional leaders in recent times saying they needed to stop running for the hills during this challenging time for the health bill. He also took a firm stance to Republican leaders telling them to stop rejecting every bill for the sake of it.

There is no word yet on when the bill will go before Senate or what such a bill would look include.
