Preventative and Catastrophic; What’s The Difference?
With respect to our healthcare there are usual and normal occurring needs such as doctor visits, diagnostic needs, periodic examinations, etc. These are things that we know we need, that are routine in nature and that help keep us healthy or catch illnesses more timely.
In addition, if we exercise, eat right, and take care of ourselves, our chances of staying healthy improve.
Yet, there are many things that no matter what we do, we can’t control and are expensive. Accidents, catastrophic illnesses, etc.
The goal is to manage as much as we can ourselves and leave the rest for insurance to take on the risk. In this manner, we can keep costs low and coverage quality high.
It really should be a partnership, that is our healthcare needs should be spread between what we can do for oursleves and what we pass on to the health insurance carriers.
