Medicare, Medicaid: Now we need Countrycare and Countryaid, take that with some Koolaid.
Jim Farrel of A Management Consultant @ Large hit the nail on the head.
“Doctors have to appreciate several aspects of the bill. First, the bill would extend insurance coverage to tens of millions of Americans who currently are denied coverage by insurance companies or who simply can not afford it. (See An Explanation of the Health Care Bill.) Second, the bill enhances the role of the primary care physician in determining the effective course of treatment and offers economic incentives for doctors and medical students to take on this role. The bill also addresses flaws in the Medicare reimbursement mechanism and includes measures to promote wellness and disease prevention.”
The last section is the most important. This entire concern about Health Care Reform is to fix Medicare/Medicaid. There is too much money coming out of it with not enough going in. It was a ridiculous idea to have insurance only for the elderly and sick without a pool of young and healthy to support it. This is how insurance works. When everyone is high risk and you have no backup and no choice but to accept them with no funds, the program begins to become a drain on the economy. Obama, by lumping everyone into a government run insurance plan takes the healthy, the 10’s of millions of under or uninsured and puts them to work paying for Medicare which alleviates the situation. However, this causes another problem. It breaks the health Insurance industry, it destroys profits and ultimately people lose jobs, being forced to feed into that pool. It is self serving…but how many more hits can our economy take?
