When you are in an emergency and the ambulance comes to pick you up, you often don’t have a choice as to which medical professionals or ambulabnce service is on its way. You wake up in the hospital full of tubes sticking out of your arms and sometimes mouth.

This is not the best time to ask wether or not what is being done to you is covered by your insurance…

However, after the fact if your health insurance company tries to stick you with out of network fees for emergency services, argue till your head turns blue. You have no choice as to who picks you up and you MUST be treated in an emergency situation…but dont for a second believe that you MUST accept every charge the hospital gives you. Research it, look into it…but when you are healthy again.

Unfortunately, this type of argument is only usually done when someone has a third party such as a family member helping to mediate for you. Being sick or in an emergency often drains you, so look for support from friends and family if possible.

According to Politico Sen. Ensign received a handwritten note on Thursday claiming that there would be a $1,900 fee or jail time for not buying health insurance.

Looking closer this may be a bit exaggerated. It states” failure to file, pay, maintain appropriate records and the like” that there would be penalties. No where does it say that you must buy health insurance. It more implies that if you have the public option and you fail to file at the end of the year then there are penalties. This is also a handwritten note, with much more detail to be desired. I wish I had a copy of the bill so I could look up the entire section myself.

There are two things to be scared of:

1: The government actually imposing penalties for not buying into the public option.

2: Political extremists taking scribbles on paper as hard coded truth and proliferating it among the masses as such.

According the the Wall Street Journal a diabetes drug has been yet again linked to pancreatic inflammation.

Be very careful when choosing drugs for your conditions. Not all drugs are the same. Each one has a different side-effect and effectiveness toward your condition. Tons of research should be done before popping a new pill, changing your medication, or stopping your current medication. The body doesn’t respond well to sudden changes which is why a crazy diet doesn’t work, and often ends up leaving you fatter than ever.

When it comes to medication that keeps you alive, you don’t want that negative bounce back effect or you wont have a chance to correct your mistakes.

Why is the government stalling for so much time on the Healthcare and Health Insurance debate? There seems to be a great desire to do this. Every party has some strange reason and no one seems informed as to the actual issues. When interviewed politicians can barely express their understanding of the debate because no one has a real clear picture as to whats going on. It is so complicated because so many different people have interest in the issue, and their interests are unclear toward one another.

If a public option is issued then there will be massive economic and organizational changes to Healthcare. Either the economy doesn’t want that or is not ready for such a huge change, hence the stalling. Imagine the burden on the system and on the economy as people lose their jobs, government applications to work the system go up, and companies in the current system start dropping their policies since they will be, hopefully not, going out of business.

It’s a scary scenario and all the government and industry is doing now is stalling for time.

Why has the healthcare debate taken so long? The longer it takes the worse it is for all of us. People go without healthcare or withhold purchasing healthcare because they are not sure what Obama has in store for them. It is not healthy to rely on government subsisdy when it comes to your health.

Consider if nothing is done and you are left without health insurnace in the midst of a mad rush to get covered because the government option fell through. Plus, who knows how long this is going to take? Are you going to wait until the next election be become insured? What if you get sick or injured during that time?

Statistically getting sick and injured happens, and at the weirdest times and to the kindest of people. Make sure  you get the coverage you need before you find yourself in a dire situation which can quickly have you facing the other two terrors of our country at the moment, unemployment and foreclosure.

H1N1 is still going around, in fact one of our Agent’s daughter caught the virus. Consider vaccinating your child from the Virus, but be aware of the following comment found on WebMD:

One shot of the vaccine raised protective antibodies in 76% of older children, a level of protection considered very good for flu vaccines. But a single dose of the vaccine protects only 36% of 3- to 9-year-olds, and only 25% of children age 6 months to 35 months.

Be sure to consult your Doctor before rushing into any vaccination facilities. Make sure that your child may not have any allergic reaction to the flue vaccine. Take every precaution as well to keep your child from bacteria and germs.

One of our co workers*cough*Alyssa*cough* decided to come in when she was deathly ill. She started off with a cough which within hours turned into a full blown cold. You get chills, then you start shivering. You get a temperature up to 103 degrees and maybe even get water in your lungs making you cough and hiccup painfully. The major symptoms go away in about a day or a day and a half, its full course probably about a week or so but it is exceptionally contagious…naturally I got it as well. I coughed so hard I have sore pains in my stomach and solar plexus. Sleeping was a nightmare, when I shifted positions I would cough violently.  Take precaution with this flu going around, I have heard of so many people being out sick and half of our office was infected with this cold.

Do your workmates a favor, when you are sick, stay home if possible especially when you have a chronic cough or sneezing. Work from home or a starbucks but don’t infect your workmates!

If you must come to work, wear a mask,  use Hand Sanitizer and keep away from physical contact with others and objects unless you absolutely have too…gloves could come in handy to.

Also, DON’T Cover up when you get the chills, you will just incubate your fever making it worse.  Take some cool showers and make sure to drink plenty of liquids. Your appetite may go to so stock up on a couple of Ensure or Boost nutritional drinks.

It was recently reported that Drinking is tied, somehow, in some ungodly fashion, to alcoholic drinking habits. It seems those who party all night drinking get more exercise than those that dont, by a whopping 7 minutes a week? I don’t know about you, but the last time i forgot to do 7 more minutes of exericse in a week it didnt make a difference in the world to me. Just another example of misinformation or minute information turned big for a headline or increased sales of alcohol.

Please be careful if or when you drink, it has many health detriments no matter how many benefits people tell you it has. Its good for your heart, it makes you exercise more, however anything in excess is ultimatly bad even the most vital of all fluids; water. Keep a look out for your health! Oh and…if you decide not too theres always Health Insurance to help pay for your “mistakes”, call VitalOne Health at 1-866-488-5200 ;)

Elmo has decided to join public service announcements reminding kids what their parents should be teaching them. Basic sanitation is the name of this game, get it right and win a prize? All this to protect against H1N1, we dont call it the flu anymore, the media likes the fancy acronimic names better. Don’t they teach this stuff to kids in grade school? Don’t parents teach this stuff to kids while they are growing up? It’s alarming how often some children need to be reminded about life basics. I guess they need it now since none of them know what H1N1 could possible mean?

It makes me wonder where our society is going. I am sure gimmicks like these have existed before, but why is it that we have the need to fill our kids brains with entertainment to get any message across. It saddens me to see the degeeneration of mind caused by cartoon characters, especialyl now a days where neer a moment goes by without a loud scream, thud or crash.
