Fifty-six year old Stangl was diagnosed with lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) which affects about 250,000 women. This year she has attended nearly 70 different campaign events and wants to speak to candidates about how they can make a difference to medical insurance in the United States.
When she tried to speak to Republican candidates Rudy Guiliani and Mitt Romney, they both "blew her off." Guiliani simply told her that "health care is good." Based on what she has heard from both Republican and Democratic candidates, she plans to vote for Senator Joe Biden because he wants to create a universal health plan similar to the one available to federal workers.
