Health Insurance Guide > How should I pay, monthly or one bulk payment for the entire time of health insurance coverage? How should I pay, monthly or one bulk payment for the entire time of health insurance coverage? That is up to you in most cases. Many health plans give you the option to do either. However, sometimes a single upfront payment turns out to be lower than the monthly health plan costs. It's recommended that you select "Monthly" if you are unsure of how long you will need health insurance coverage or can't make a bulk upfront payment. It's recommended and if available with the carrier, to choose a "Single Upfront Payment" if you're sure and specific as to the length of time that you will require coverage and want lower plan costs. If you choose this option, you will need to be clear about the length of coverage, be it from 30 to 365 days. As well, if you select this option, you will not have to cancel the plan at the end of the coverage period. But you may also not be able to get a refund once the coverage starts. If you still require short-term health insurance once your chosen duration is over, you will have to apply once again for a new short-term plan if allowed by the carrier. |
