AMA to Boost Funding for Voice for the Uninsured Campaign

In its efforts to be heard during campaign season, the American Medical Association (AMA) is tripling its spending on promotions in order to let the public know about their Voice for the Uninsured campaign. The AMA, which represents approximately 250,000 physicians in the United States, plans to spend around $15 million to spread the word about their campaign.

The AMA will start airing television ads, as well as national print and online ads, in the coming months. The ads will give a quick summary of the AMA's proposal, including using government funds to provide medical insurance for those most in need, income-tax breaks for those with insurance, and vouchers to help more consumers buy health care.

Although the AMA is increasing their spending, they will also be competing with another $3 billion in advertising from lobby groups, politicians' campaigns, and advocacy groups. However, the organization is confident the extra investment will be effective in helping them reach their audience.
